Choosing the colour of your resin driveway is one of the most exciting parts of the process — and one of the most daunting. With over 100 Vuba aggregate blends to choose from, how do you narrow it down?
After installing driveways across Cheshire and North Wales for years, we’ve picked up some practical rules that make the decision much easier.
Start with Your Property, Not Your Preferences
Your driveway needs to complement your house, not compete with it. Before looking at swatches, take note of:
- Brickwork colour — red brick, buff, grey render, stone? Your aggregate should sit comfortably alongside it.
- Roof colour — slate grey, terracotta, brown tiles? This is the largest colour block on your home.
- Door and window frames — anthracite grey, white, black, oak effect? These create accent tones you can echo.
- Garden and boundary materials — stone walls, timber fences, hedges all contribute to the palette.
Our Most Popular Blends in Cheshire
These are the five blends we install most often, and they suit the majority of Cheshire properties:
Poseidon (Golden Amber)
A warm, honey-toned blend that pairs beautifully with red and buff brick. It’s our single most popular colour — classic without being boring.
Manhattan (Silver Grey)
A contemporary cool grey that works brilliantly with modern render, anthracite windows and slate roofs. Clean, sharp, and very on-trend.
Huka Falls (Warm Sand)
A lighter, sandy blend with flecks of cream. Ideal for cottage-style properties and lighter brickwork. Creates an open, welcoming feel.
Sedona
Richer and deeper than Poseidon, with warm terracotta and caramel tones. Works well with darker brickwork and traditional properties.
Anthracite
A deep, dark charcoal blend that adds a dramatic edge to any property. Bold contrast with light render, pale brick or white window frames.
Light vs Dark — Practical Considerations
Beyond aesthetics, colour affects how your driveway lives day-to-day:
- Lighter blends show tyre marks and oil spots more easily, but they make small driveways feel larger and more open.
- Darker blends hide staining better and look dramatic, but can feel smaller on compact drives and show dust more.
- Mid-tones (amber, honey, warm grey) tend to be the most practical — they hide everything reasonably well and complement a wide range of properties.
Borders and Contrast Detailing
One of the best ways to elevate your driveway is to add a contrasting border. For example:
- Poseidon main surface with a charcoal resin border
- Manhattan surface with a brick edge course
- Any blend with a darker resin perimeter to frame the drive
Borders add definition, make the drive look more intentional, and separate the surface from lawn and planting areas.
Always See Samples Against Your House
Photos and screen colours are never completely accurate. Aggregate looks different in person, and changes significantly depending on the light. A blend that looks perfect in sunshine can look flat under grey skies (and in Cheshire, we get plenty of those).
That’s why we bring physical Vuba sample panels to every free survey. You can hold them against your brickwork, check them in morning and afternoon light, and make a confident decision.
What If You Can’t Decide?
It happens. Our advice:
- Shortlist 2–3 blends based on your property colours
- Look at them in real light — not on a phone screen
- Drive past our recent projects — we can point you to finished installations near you so you can see full-size surfaces in situ
- Trust the mid-tones — if you’re still torn, Poseidon and Manhattan are popular for a reason
